Iowa State junior transfer Blake Hinson will miss the 2020-21 season because of a continuing medical condition.
An athletics department press release Friday said the condition is unrelated to the coronavirus pandemic.
A 6-foot-7 wing player, Hinson transferred to Iowa State after playing the previous two seasons at Mississippi, where he averaged averaged 9.1 points and made 91 3-pointers. He started 58 of 60 games that he played.
“In his two-and-a-half months with the program, Blake has become a valuable member of this team and a leader within our program,” Iowa State coach Steve Prohm said. “The most important thing to all of us is his well-being.
“He will be returning to Florida to be with his family at this time, but will continue his classwork. We fully support his desire to return home and look forward to his return when the time is right for him. I know that when he returns, Blake will continue to be a leader this season and next season when he is back on the court with our team.”
Hinson will be eligible for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
