Barcelona youngster has been shown the door by Quique Setien

Barcelona poor performances against Celta Vigo has proven to be fatal for the Catalans in the title race for the La Liga Santander as the leaders, Real Madrid, clinched all three points against Barca’s local rivals RCD Espanyol which has now sent Zinedine Zidane’s men two points above with six games still in hand to play.

The game against Celta Vigo saw Arthur Melo come on in the dying minutes of the game before Iago Aspas scored a fabulous free-kick from the edge of the box to level the game as he bent the ball surprisingly around the wall rather than over it to catch Marc-Andre ter Stegen in a surprise.

The Brazilian midfielder, Arthur Melo, was then spotted by several journalists in Italy as the rumours state the player had flown in to sign his contract and have his medical examination.

With Arthur set to depart from the Camp Nou at the end of the season, Quique Setien has vested his trust in Barca’s youth academy player, Riqui Puig, according to the El desmarque

The youngster with immense potential

Although Arthur will be certainly missed in the centre of the park because of his creativity and goal-scoring capabilities, however, the Blaugrana now have a young jewel who has the quality and the potential to surpass the level of the soon to be Juventus man by a yard.

Despite the poor performance put on by Barcelona in the second half at the Balaidos, Riqui Puig, however, was all over the field. The youngster was spotted dropping deep to pick up the ball on numerous occasions to help the defense while they were being pressed and was also involved in several one-two passes before making darting runs with the ball.

Riqui Puig was a force to reckon with Eric Garcia and the defenders of Celta Vigo had no other options but to stop the threat of Puiq by forcefully fouling the player in order to break down the attacks created by the youngster.

Quique Setien has been impressed by the quality shown by the 20-year-old Spanish midfielder and has decided to award the player more game time in the remaining six La Liga matches after his recent streak of admirable performances.

The club in the recent years has opted for signing huge superstar players instead of using their famous youth academy, however, Quique Setien might bring back the old tradition since Puig is a graduate from the renowned La Masia.

What do you make of the former Real Betis manager’s decision by paving the way for the 20-year-old midfielder?
