Tensions rise as two Barça heavyweights reportedly ‘square up’ in training row
Tensions are reportedly rising in the Barcelona dressing room after two of the squad’s ‘heavyweights’ squared off in training last week.
That’s according to a story in AS which claims that a pair of unnamed players had to be forcefully pulled apart in Tuesday morning’s session.
Eagle-eyed supporters may have noticed that Barcelona have failed to do their traditional huddle before their last two fixtures.
New boss Quique Setien, when asked why, insisted that he was unaware of the ritual.
But AS say that there are almost irreparable tensions in the Barcelona squad right now, with some sections of the playing staff accusing others of dropping their level under Ernesto Valverde.
Lionel Messi is believed to have been a big supporter of Valverde and was upset when the Spanish tactician was sacked last month.
The report states that his departure has left a bitter feeling amongst some of the players and is a reason behind their lacklustre performance so far under Setien.
