The case of Pedro Chirivella is a curious one.

Despite being 22 years of age, he has made justnineappearances for the Reds’ first team, with him instead having spent large amounts of time on loan during the last few seasons. However, he will go down in history as having captained Liverpool – he did so against Aston Villa in the League Cup in December – and he also started the Anfield outfit’s match against Everton in the FA Cup earlier this month.

The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?

In January 2019, by how many centimetres were Liverpool denied scoring a goal against Manchester City?

It was back to reality for the midfielder on Monday as the Reds easily dispatched Southampton 5-0 in the Premier League 2, and many fans were delighted with his display.

His pass for Harvey Elliott’s strike attracted lots of praise from the supporters.

Amazing pass from Chirivella to Harvey Elliot.Chirivella is a beast! He might leave us for free like Suso n Luis Alberto did.. He is quality.. Klopp shd be keeping a close eye on

It was a fantastic assist, and it shows the quality that Chirivella has at his disposal.

There was another clip doing the rounds, which showed the Spaniard winning a tackle in midfield, and many were impressed by his desire and dedication.

Shades of Robbo against City there.

The winning mentality at Liverpool does seem to be infectious at the moment. That is what can happen when you are on your way to a first league title in 30 years.

Should Liverpool give Chirivella a new contract?

Chirivella, of course, hasless than six months lefton his contract. After seeing his latest showing, there are calls for him to be given a new deal.

Deserves a new contract imo, will be interesting to see how he develops over the coming years be it at Liverpool or not.
