In a potentially historic first for women’s boxing, the Irish star’s promoter has now revealed his intentions for the upcoming stage of her career.

Hearn said: “Katie Taylor, in my opinion, will headline a pay-per-view next year on Sky.

“But it won’t be in America.

“Really there’s only three fights you can probably do that with, which is Amanda Serrano, Cecilia Braekhus or Delfine Persoon.”

Of those three potential opponents, Persoon is the fighter most fans will be more familiar with, given the fact she went toe-to-toe with Taylor in the undisputed lightweight title clash in June.

Persoon felt aggrieved went the decision went against her and there has been plenty of clamour for a rematch.

Seven-division ruler Serrano and undisputed welterweight champion Braekhus would make for very interesting alternatives, with both also achieving a great deal within the women’s game.
