Pique earns a suspension to ensure he can play El Clasico
Barcelona have one more fixture before the first Clasico of the season and Gerard Pique would have been walking a suspension tightrope had he taken part in that match – away at Eibar on October 19 – but the centre-back ensured he saw his fifth yellow card of the season on Sunday night and it means he wipes clean his suspension record.
He’ll miss the trip to Eibar after the international break, but will return for El Clasico against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou.
By blasting a ball away in the final minutes of Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Sevilla, Pique collected the yellow card he was seeking from Miguel Antonio Mateu Lahoz.
This though, causes Barcelona a centre-back problem for the Eibar trip, given that Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo are injury doubts and given that Ronald Araujo was sent off on Sunday night and will also be suspended.
