Lokomotiv Moscow vs Atletico Madrid Satisfied with his team’s win in Russia
Thomas Parteyproduced another outstanding performance inAtletico Madrid‘s 2-0 victory againstLokomotiv Moscow, andDiego Simeoneonly had words of praise for his player.
The Argentine claimed that the Ghanaian midfielder doesn’t receive much praise in Spain because he wasn’t signed from a big team and is a product fromAtleti‘s academy.
“I could say so many things [aboutThomas], but with some of them I have to shut up,”Simeonesaid.
“I’m very happy withThomas.
“If he had come from an English or German team, he would be [lauded] but he’s from the academy and he’s justThomas.
“He has been working for many years, non-stop.”
Simeonewent on to break down the keys which unlocked the game in Russia and gaveAtleticothe win.
“We need to continue like we did againstReal Mallorcaand the derby,” he continued.
“Today we could create chances, but we were denied as we couldn’t [score] in the first half.
“We talked and we increased the intensity, believing in the quality of our forwards.
“Joao Felix‘s goal soon arrived and the game opened up.”
The Argentine tactician also explained why he usesJoao Felixon the right wing and not in his natural position as a second forward.
“He probably feels more comfortable as a second striker,”Simeonenoted.
“I think it is not easy to play there because he has to control the team and the game in many situations.
“On the wing, although he may suffer more, it gives him more possibilities to provide more chances for the strikers.
“We also did it withDiego RibasandArda [Turan].”
