Aymeric Laporte’s absence was noticeable with the centre backout until at least Januaryfollowing surgery on his right knee.

The defender was stretchered off during their 4-0 win against Brighton last month.

This leaves Pep Guardiola worryingly short in that position with just Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones the recognised senior centre backs.
