Curacao goalkeeper Jarzinho Pieter suffers heart attack, dies before Haiti game

– The goalkeeper was in the national team camp of Curacao preparing for their match against Haiti

– Despite his death, the nation has decided to go ahead with the match, which will hold later on Tuesday, September 10, as the deceased will be honored

People of Dutch Caribbean island known as Curacao have been thrown into mourning following the sudden and shocking death of their goalkeeper Jarzinho Pieter.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper suffered a heart attack on Monday, September 9, while in the team’s camp before he was later confirmed dead by the Concacaf football governing body.

Before his untimely death, Jarzinho Pieter and his former teammates were preparing for their Concacaf Nations League match against Haiti.

But according to the report on BBC, the players have decided to go on with the match on Tuesday, September 10, where a minute’s silence will be obtained to honor the deceased.


Jarzinho Pieter who plays for Curacao side Centro Dominguito is a back up goalkeeper for Eloy Room.

Eloy Room who plays for MLS side Columbus Crew SC however took to his official social media page to pay his respect for Jarzinho.


Pieter made his debut for the Curaçao national football team in a 2-0 friendly win over Aruba on November 14, 2013.
