Manchester United have been linked with Portuguese international Joao Felix for quite some time and now, reports suggest that the Red Devils will make an offer for the highly rated Benfica star.
According toCorreio da Manha, Man Utd will initially advance with a massive proposal of 90 million euros and then sell two of their stars to raise funds to secure the signing of the 19-year-old playmaker.
However, the Portugueseoutlethave mentioned that Benfica president, Luís Filipe Vieira, is aware of the situation and will only let the player leave if his huge release clause of 120 million euros (£106million) is met.
Felix started 21 league games this term and directly contributed in 24 goals to help Benfica win the Primeira Liga title.
The teenage boy made just one appearance in the Champions League but he regularly started in the Europa League. His most impressive performance of the season came against Frankfurt in the first leg of the Europa League quarter final. The youngster netted a hat-trick and provided an assist but the German club bounced back in the second leg to knock the Portuguese giants out of the competition.
Benfica have mainly utilized him just behind the main center forward but often he has started out wide on the flanks as well.
Yes, we do need to strengthen our attacking department in the summer transfer window. Yes, Felix has impressed big time but this was his first season in the Portuguese top flight and I think we are getting a bit desperate here.
If United really want to spend a fee close to 100 million euros to reinforce the offense, then in my view, they should sign a proven quality world class playmaker. Someone like Griezmann, who has been world class for years and who is going to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, would be marquee signing.
