One of Barcelona’s mainstays is going to leave the club after being left furious with Lionel Messi’s huge say in matters pertaining to contracts.

Frenkie de Jong’s signing from Ajax Amsterdam which will be effective in July this year has only gone on to increase the commotion in the centre of the park at Barcelona. In order to accommodate the Netherlands international into their squad, the Catalans are looking to get rid of Ivan Rakitic.

Rakitic has been more than a regular under Ernesto Valverde, so the coach may not be a big fan of the Croat’s potential departure, but it has beenclaimed by Fox Sportsthat even the player is eyeing a departure during this summer. The main reason by Rakitic wants an exit is because he feels that Lionel Messi’s coterie is negatively impacted the club.

Lionel Messi has a huge say in the transfer and contractual matters at the Camp Nou and Ivan Rakitic feels that this is preventing the club from growing. Only those players who are in the captain’s good books, such as Jordi Alba, are being awarded improved contracts whereas some others, including Rakitic, are being overlooked.

The Croatia international has also mentioned that had Lionel Messi not shown as much favouritism as he usually does, the Catalans would be in a much better place now. Spain’s champions did promise to give Rakitic a better contract, but that has not been the case just yet and Messi has been labelled a ‘dictator’ for his apparent seniority.

As things stand, the World Cup silver-medallist could be on his way out of the Camp Nou. Paris Saint-Germain, who are also close to signing Ander Herrera in their bid to win the Champions League, has been thought to be an attractive destination in the eyes of Rakitic, who will also listen to offers from the Premier League.

What is the best possible destination for Ivan Rakitic should be leave the club?
