Adrien Rabiothas not been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain after his recent meeting with the club and will return to training next week, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

The France internationalhad been suspended until the end of Marchafter being spotted nightclubbing after PSG’s Champions League exit against Manchester United, as well as ‘liking’ one ofPatrice Evra‘s provocative social media posts in the wake of the result.

Initially reported by RMC Sport, and since confirmed by ESPN FC sources, Rabiot’s suspension was extended until the start of next week and he will then return to training.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel would not confirm or deny Rabiot’s imminent return to training, but he was clear that the 24-year-old’s situation is unlikely to change between now and the end of the season — meaning that Rabiot has likely played his final match with PSG.

“I cannot confirm anything, because I do not know — these things are between the player and the club,” he said on Saturday. “No news. This situation will not change [on the possibility of Rabiot playing for PSG before the end of the season].”

Rabiot spoke with InfoSport+ after his suspension and having been frozen out of the senior setup since the end of 2018.

“Of course, it has been hard not playing these past three months,” he said. “However, this situation is not of my choosing.

“I am at the club’s disposal. Everything is fine, I am in shape. If I could play I would, but the leaders have decided otherwise.”

Rabiot has not appeared for PSG since December’s Champions League game at Red Star Belgrade after negotiations over a contract extension broke down and is now unlikely to feature again.

Evra’s provocative social media behaviourhas seen an investigation opened by the High Court of Parisand Jerome Rothen, who was targeted by his former teammate, has confirmed that he is also pressing charges.
