There are some football moments that, even as they happen, can be viewed as season-defining. As Nathan Redmond lifted in the opening goal at the John Smith’s Stadium, Southampton began to look a team who can see a path clear to safety. By contrast, 20,000 Huddersfield Town hearts sank.
